Parabol: Enhancing Urban Mobility Resilience: Rationale Report on Electric Public Transportation Infrastructure in Earthquake-Affected Cities: “KahramanmaraÅŸ, Gaziantep and Mersin”, Türkiye
Project Aim
The aim of this project is to assess and optimize urban public transportation in the aftermath of an earthquake, with a focus on the integration of electric vehicles (EVs). The project seeks to analyze how post-earthquake demographic shifts and altered conditions impact urban mobility, determine the necessary quantity of electric buses, charging stations, and energy storage units, and propose optimal routes and station locations. By conducting a comprehensive literature review, focus group discussions, data collection, and advanced analysis, the project aims to develop a well-justified and sustainable electric vehicle transformation plan that addresses the transportation needs of affected areas while considering future uncertainties.
Parabol Contribution
In this project, Parabol provides
-
Examination of urban public transportation data before and after the earthquake
-
Analysis of the impact of post-earthquake demographic changes and other altered conditions on urban mobility
-
Determination and justification of the quantity of electric buses, charging stations, and energy storage units needed after the earthquake
-
Justification of the probable routes for the acquired buses, as well as the positioning of charging stations and energy storage units
by doing literature review (Earthquake and Mobility, EV Needs and Constraints, Dynamics of Relevant Provinces), focus group discussion and data gathering (Earthquake effect, EV overview, past studies, existing and potential data), analysis (Vehicle needs with uncertainty scenarios, demand-based line and station proposals, OD analysis, Zone analysis), reporting (current situation and earthquake impact, number of vehicles and their positioning, EV transformation progress and its management).
