SUMP İstanbul Stage II
Project Aim
SUMP İstanbul is a strategic plan for making the city’s mobility comfortable, affordable, resilient, safe, fast and integrated with an inclusive approach and minimizing negative impacts on transportation. İstanbul SUMP II - Implementation Plan, which is co-financed by the Republic of Türkiye and the European Union, and whose beneficiary is Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is the biggest SUMP project in Europe and will be the pioneer of innovative approaches in sustainable mobility. Parabol takes part in different components of the Project.
The scope of the project:

Analysis of current mobility situation through collecting traditional and innovative transportation data that includes conducting household surveys (70.000 houses)

Traffic counts and gathering other relevant data including transport system system data and big data types for comprehensive analysis of the current mobility situation

Detailed modelling for sustainable urban mobility through developing a transportation model with its own data-driven activity based modeling (ABM) approach

Parabol Contribution
Parabol plays a critical role in every SUMP projects, contributing to the mobility transformation of İstanbul, İzmir, Konya, and Eskişehir through data-driven insights and advanced technological solutions. Parabol is responsible for data collection using both innovative and traditional methods, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of urban mobility patterns. Leveraging big data analysis, Parabol assesses the current state of urban mobility, identifying key challenges and opportunities for improvement. In addition, Parabol develops transportation modeling to simulate and forecast future mobility scenarios.
